13 Days of Sand Battles at London 2012
The schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games was released on Monday with the beach volleyball tournament comprising 13 days of competition, FIVB announced.
Beach volleyball is expected to be one of the premier attractions of the Olympic Games given all the matches will be played at the historical setting of Horse Guards Parade. The event will run from July 28 through August 9, with a minimum of 16 games a day during the preliminary rounds ahead of the knockout stages.
Tickets are due to go on sale from March 15 with registration already open on the London 2012 website. Ticket prices for a four-match session start at 20 GBP, while for each of the two final days the most inexpensive ticket costs 95 GBP with the costliest ones reaching 450 GBP.
Preparations for the Olympic Games have already begun in beach volleyball with Europe, South America and, most recently, Africa completing the sub-zonal phase of the FIVB Continental Cup, the new qualifying system for the competition.
The London Olympics will take place from July 27 through August 12.
