German team Wiesbaden won the sixth edition of the match in memory of the Bulgarian player
Emotional tribute was paid once again to the memory of Denitza Krivova, the Bulgarian-born Luxembourgish international, who tragically lost her life in a car accident back in 2008 when she was only 18 years old. In the sixth edition of the Denitza Krivova Memorial match, the last team she played for, Terville Florange Olympique Club from the French Ligue A Feminine faced the squad of Wiesbaden from the German women’s Bundesliga.
The match that took place on Tuesday night in Florange offered the fans high-level volleyball with exciting turnarounds in almost all the sets. Eventually it was the German team that claimed the victory by 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 25-22), but this was really the last thing that mattered to everyone attending. After the game both teams received trophies presented to them by Denitza’s father, Ranguel Krivov, accompanied by her 4-year-old sister Lea whom she never met, but what was more important to them was to share the emotion of this moment dedicated to the memory of a very talented young volleyballer.
The event was attended by volleyball fans, many members of the European volleyball community and friends of the Krivov family.
“Deni was a very positive person. She was always smiling and despite her young age she was always happy to help the others. Of course, she was also a player of superb quality and we all feel lucky that she was part of our club. This is already the sixth edition of this memorial match and we do plan to keep the tradition going,” stated TFOC President Daniel Mroczkowski.
“A big ‘thank you’ to all who participated in this event. I am sure Deni is very happy to see from above how many people came to pay tribute to her memory. Naturally for me this is a very emotional moment. I feel the heavy sorrow, but I am also full of pride that in the short lifetime she had, Deni managed to impress so many people and to leave her mark,” shared Ranguel Krivov.
“For logistical reasons, this year the national women’s squad of Luxembourg, which Deni was also a part of, could not participate in the event, but I hope that from next year the tradition to hold a match between Deni’s club team and national team will be renewed,” he added.
